European Developers PAL Playstation.

Beauty from SONY

This is the PAL version of the debugging Playstation.

This PSX is identical to the other debuggers as it can play games from all zones and load CDRs (A CD with an executable file, without the PSX protection scheme). Video output however is PAL, programs (games) used on it must be for that video standard.

A very pretty unit!

Not to be confused with the PSX prototype which is also blue.

The lasers in the early series were of poor quality. Replacing the laser (or refurb it) whenever you find one of these machines is the norm.

Special thanks to Yoyok for the pics. He's "Indonesian" on Ebay. One of the super collectors.

Q & A

Q: How hard is it to get these? Is it expensive? Are they easy to ship?

A: They aren't terribly hard to get. The cost is from $100 if you know someone, to $250 and up. To equate to something you may be familiar with, it's like a PSX with a mod chip in it. However, a mod chip that never gets outdated!

Q: Should I bother? Is it worth it? Where can I get one?

A: It's nice, but they tend to fall apart.. these machines approach SIX years of age now. Expect to cannibalize a good unit to maintain this one. I think it's a classy machine. 10/10 for beauty.
