Satellaview Satellite System for Super Famicom

Satellite delivered game content.

The Satellaview unit hooked to that port under the SNES and Superfami that we all open and say "What is this for??" Most think of the cancelled CD add-on when they see this port.

The Satellaview is the fruit of the axed CD add-on. The CD concept spawned real interest in using the expansion port on the Superfami.

The unit sits neatly under the Superfami.

The Satellaview system connected to St. Giga, the Satellite provider. The unit would connect and make new content available for download.

Games on the system were often exclusive to the Satellaview, and can't be found anywhere else. They were also available for only imited periods of time.

Games could be saved to a RAM cart (BS-X adapter).

The service was eventually cancelled, and now these rare and exclusive games can only be found and played on a Satellaview system.

Q & A

Q: How hard is it to get these? Is it expensive? Are they easy to ship?

A: They aren't terribly expensive. However they are very bulky. Look to pay more for units with more games.

Q: Should I bother? Is it worth it? Where can I get one?

A: I'm trying to get one of these, but my Japanese is not up to par. A nice machine, with good games.
